HI David,
I purchased "Painting a Life" and I am impressed with the professional quality of the video and how you give great detailed explanation of the process you are going through while you are painting. For example, your excellent explanation of local colour and broken colours.
The greatest challenge I feel that is stopping me from being a good artist is getting proportions correct. I suffer from the amateur level of measuring far too much which I want to get away from.
How did you train yourself to get proportions accurate in the placement of the key features eyes, nose and mouth when doing a portrait?
Is there a particular method or system you use that guides you in the placement of key features in a portrait or was it simply down to hard daily practice in drawing?
Thank you for your videos. I wish you much success and prosperity in your career.
